About & method
A reference card, kept current
Balikbayan Hub is a small reference site for overseas Filipinos. It covers the recurring, time-sensitive things you look up when you send money, ship a box, or buy gifts for family back home. It is not a blog and not an advisor. The site is the author. There is no person behind it.
What we publish
Tables, checklists, and short plain explanations. If a page carries a rate, fee, weight, customs value, or rule, that figure names its source (the courier, bank, or Bureau of Customs page it came from) and the date it was last checked.
What we don’t do
- No advice. We show posted terms and sourced checklists. We do not say “you should” about money, customs, or documents. You decide.
- No guessed numbers. If a figure can’t be confirmed against its source, the page says so and points you to the official page. We do not invent a rate to fill a gap.
- No persona, and no fake personality. No “I tested this,” no face, no story.
- No ranking by payout. Comparisons are ordered only by the stated metric, cost or speed. How we earn is disclosed in full.
Why the checked date is shown
Remittance fees, FX margins, courier rates and customs limits move. An answer written once can go out of date without anyone noticing. These pages carry a visible “checked” date and are reviewed at least every quarter against their sources, often sooner. A page left unverified for over six months is flagged. The date is shown, not hidden.
How it stays independent
The site runs no ads and no affiliate links, and takes no payment from any courier, bank, or remittance service it covers. Nothing here is sponsored and nothing is for sale. Comparisons are ordered only by the stated metric, cost or speed, never by payout. See the disclosure & ranking policy.
Contact & corrections
Found a figure that looks off, or a source that moved? That is the most useful message we can get. The contact page has the address and what it is for.
